Upper Primary

In the Senior Years – Years 6 and 7

In the Upper Primary Years we offer increased opportunities for independent learning, leadership and management.  Students practice these skills through classroom and extra curricula activities.

We focus on a resource based learning style which is supported by explicit teaching. Students are encouraged to set goals, plan, research, present and evaluate their tasks and projects. They learn to accept increasing responsibility for managing their time and resources.

Through activities such as committees, buddy class, Student Representative Council and Peer Mediation students develop leadership and collaborative skills.

We aim to provide a range of extra curricula activities to broaden their experiences, enhance classroom learning and to provide interest and motivation.

Transition is an important element in the final year at primary school. We maintain close links with secondary schools and support their range of transition programmes.

Year 7 Graduation is celebrated with a formal ceremony and dinner toward the end of the school year.
